Being a parent can be hard, and being a teenage parent can create unique challenges. The Teen Family Centre aims to assist young parents to manage all the challenges that parenting and life can bring and embrace all the rewards of raising a child.

SERVICES


The Teen Family Centre offers holistic support to young parents through
direct support with practical, parenting and personal needs

  • Direct support with practical, parenting and personal needs

  • Outreach and home visits
  • Advocacy
  • Workshops (with occasional creche provided)
  • Social Activities


WORKSHOPS


The Unit facilitates a number of programs and fun educational and practical workshops relating to a number of areas, including

  • Parenting Skills
  • Practical and Independent Living Skills
  • Health and Well-being
  • Personal and Life Development

Fun activities and excursions are also conducted for both parents and their children.

All workshops include a FREE lunch or morning/afternoon tea.

STAFF

The Teen Family Centre employsqualified youth workers as Parent Support Workers to assist young parents with ongoing support and assistance relating to practical, parenting and personal needs, and can provide outreach and conduct home visits. They can help link young parents with other services that may assist them and faciliate workshops.

A director is employed to manage and oversee the Teen Family Centre programs.

We acknowledge and embrace the cultural diversity within the community and employ a Culturally and Linguitically Diverse (CALD) Parent Support Worker who specialises in provided culturally sensitive services to young parents living in the community.

A Community Outreach Worker is employed to promote the program and establish links between the program and the community to assist young parents to attend and engage the Parent Support Unit.

A Parent Support Coordinator is employed to manage and oversee the program.
