Childcare Subsidy Information

About the Subsidy

The Childcare Subsidy supports parents and families to cover the cost of Childcare fees. The subsidy is paid directly to your nominated Child Care service, and the coverage of the subsidy is determined by the following:

  • Family's Income
  • Hours of activity that each parent does (study, work, volunteering etc)
  • Immunisation requirements of children
  • Residential Requirements
  • Childcare fees you are likely to pay.

When to apply for the Childcare Subsidy?

As soon as your child is born it is recommended to apply for the Childcare Subsidy. It can take up to 8 weeks for a Childcare Subsidy claim to be processed by Centrelink. Without the subsidy being approved, parents who access Childcare may need to pay full fees until the subsidy is approved.

How can i check or update my subsidy?

You can check your Childcare Subsidy and update your information through your Express Centrelink Mobile App or by logging onto your MyGov Account. The Childcare Subsidy can be found under the "My Family" menu on your MyGov Account as seen below:

"Childcare Subsidy Summary" will take you to a screen as seen below, where you can update your Family Income, Activity Hours and see your Childcare Enrolments.
